Stanstead

Stanstead, meaning stoney place, is located on the B1066 between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds. Both Market Towns have local trains which connect to main line trains from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street.

The Lower part of Stanstead, is in Lower Street. The Upper part, is in Upper Street and The Hill connects the two!

The 12th century Church is sited at the top of the hill.

We are at Mertons Farm, a smallholding at the end of Lower Street. Not far from the bridge over the River Glem and the road up to Glemsford, also known as Little Eygpt.
